One of the first things parents say when they arrive at my Saldanha studio is:

"She won't sit still."

"He's so busy."

"I hope you can get at least one good photo."

As a Fine Art Photographer, I here these words all the time.

The truth is, I don't need children to sit perfectly still.

Childhood isn't still.

It's curious, energetic, unpredictable and wonderfully authentic. That's exactly what I want to capture.

At Living Moments Fine Art Photography, I create timeless portraits that celebrate children exactly as they are. Their curiosity, laughter, imagination and wonderfully busy personalities become part of the story we preserve together.

Then there was Linke.

She never stands still. She has an opinion on everything. And she's always chasing the next adventure.

From the moment she walked into the studio, she was completely herself. Curious. Busy. Full of personality. She made me work for every photo – and I mean work!

But that's one of the things I love most about photographing children.

You don't force them into being someone they're not.

You let them play.

You let them explore.

And somewhere between the twirls, the giggles and the little moments when they pause to wonder about something, you create photographs that couldn't belong to anyone else.

Those are the moments I'm always waiting for.

When I look back at these portraits, I don't just see a little girl in a pink dress.

I see Linke.

Her curls. Her determination. Her curiosity.

The little expressions that her family sees every day.

Children don't need to perform in my studio.

They don't need to smile on command or sit perfectly still.

They just need to be themselves.

This is Linke. Exactly as she is.

And I have no doubt that years from now, her family will look at these portraits and smile because they'll remember this little girl, not just what she looked like, but who she was.

Childhood changes so quickly. One day they're asking endless questions. The next they're too grown up to hold your hand.

That's why these portraits matter.

They don't just remind you what your child looked like.

They remind you who they were.

Every child has a story worth remembering.
